Your Queenstown Destination Guide

We list off the top five Queenstown experiences you have to try at least once.

Get into the swing of Queenstown living

One of the first must-do activities you need to experience while visiting Queenstown is enjoying a giant swing. While a swing sounds peaceful and unfrightening, this is anything but. You’ll need to prepare yourself for this one – and by that we mean you may need to bring a change of underwear just in case.

Take on the Nevis Bungy

Still up for more you say? If the big swing wasn’t enough, head to the highest bungy in NZ. We guarantee this will make even the toughest of you sweat. The incredible Nevis Bungy will see you complete a 134 metre bungy jump. While the free-fall is over in less than 10 seconds, we’re sure it’s going to take you a while to muster up the courage to actually jump.

Take a ride on the Shotover Jet

You haven’t had a jet boat ride like this before. The Shotover Jet explores the Shotover Canyon and combines the gorgeous natural landscape with echoes of laughter and fear. Donning a life jacket, you’ll jump on board the boat, which travels up to 90km/h in water that can be as shallow as 10cm.

You’ll enjoy 360-degree spins as you go wall to wall down the canyons. This is a great activity for families or friends who all share a love of the rush that comes from doing something just a tad scary.

Enjoy pretty scenery from a gondola and luge

Looking for less scary, easier fun? The Luge is a perfect choice. First, ride a gondola up to the top of Bob’s Peak and enjoy stunning views. From its peak, you can then check out the luge that will combine those pretty views with a fun, winding ride. This is great fun for families or friends with a competitive streak looking for a race to the bottom.

Hit the slopes

Down in Queenstown for winter? Then you have to head to the slopes for some skiing, snowboarding or snowman making. If you’re a first timer, we recommend professional lessons so you can get the most out of your visit.

For travellers of all ages, Queenstown is sure to give you a rush you’ll remember.
